Dinesh Karthik will lead India in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament 2025. The veteran wicket-keeper announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2024 and is currently associated with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a batting coach.

The right-hander will now return to action, and his leadership skills and batting will play a key role in the Hong Kong Sixes.

“We are proud to welcome Dinesh Karthik as the Captain of Team India for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025. With his vast international experience, sharp leadership skills, and explosive batting, Dinesh will bring both inspiration and intensity to the tournament. His appointment reflects the spirit of the Sixes — fearless, entertaining, and world-class. Join us from 7–9 November in Hong Kong as we host a global celebration of cricket,” posted Hong Kong cricket on their X account.

Karthik was delighted after getting another chance to compete for the country. “It is an honour to lead India at the Hong Kong Sixes. I look forward to sharing the dressing room with some of the big names, who have big records to their names. Together, we will try to play fearless cricket and bring joy to our fans,” Dinesh Karthik said.

Apart from DK, Ravichandran Ashwin will also play in the competition, which will be his first appearance after announcing his retirement from the IPL. India failed to cross the first stage in the last edition of the Hong Kong Sixes in 2024, having lost all the games under Robin Uthappa’s captaincy. The Kong Sixes 2025 will be played at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground from November 7 to 9.
