The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clinched a solid five-wicket win against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, April 25. This victory puts Pat Cummins’ team on equal points with RR and the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, they sit in third place on the table due to their net run-rate.
Batting first at home, RR put up an impressive 228 runs in their 20 overs. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stole the spotlight with a stunning century off just 36 balls. The 15-year-old dazzled the Jaipur crowd by scoring his second IPL hundred in as many years. He was well-supported by Dhruv Jurel, who contributed 51 runs off 35 balls.
In response, SRH chased down the target with relative ease, finishing with nine balls to spare. Even though they lost Travis Head early in the first over, the 2016 champions steadied their innings thanks to Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. The duo scored 57 and 74 runs, respectively, ensuring that the required run-rate was never a concern for the visitors. Nitish Kumar Reddy capped off the innings with a quickfire 36 not out at a strike rate of 200.
As is typical in IPL matches, the clash between RR and SRH was packed with teams and players setting new records and reaching significant milestones. Sooryavanshi was at the forefront of the record-breaking conversations with his breathtaking century in the first innings.
