On Friday, August 15, the draw for the Zwaantje Masters 2025 was conducted at Café Zaal ’t Zwaantje in Eindhoven. Co-organiser and competitor Ruud Kuijten oversaw proceedings alongside Bas Engelen, confirming the seven groups for the main event, which features 42 players.
The line-up is stacked with quality. Defending champion Wessel Nijman returns to protect his crown but will face stern tests from the likes of Danny Noppert, Scott Williams, Wesley Plaisier, Andy Hamilton, Devon Petersen, Darryl Fitton, Marvin van Velzen and Jimmy van Schie.
Fitton is in Group One alongside Jurjen van der Velde and Damian Mol. Williams has landed alongside Jamai van den Herik who has been incredible on the Challenge Tour. Hamilton has landed with Jeffrey Sparidaans while Devon Petersen has Corne Groeneveld to contend with.
Danny Noppert, one of a few Tour Card holders and the current world number 15, landed in Group 7 alongside none other than Jimmy van Schie, the world number one in the WDF rankings. To make matters even more daunting, they were joined by Michael van de Ven, Willem Mandigers, Dennis van der Steen and René Smits, making Group 7 the Group of Death of sorts in regards to home hopes.
In the group stage, the top two players from each group will qualify directly for the last 16, with the two best third-place finishers also progressing. From there, the tournament switches to straight knockout format, culminating in the crowning of the Zwaantje Masters 2025 champion on Saturday, August 23.
