Steve West competes this week in the MODUS Super Series and Paul Nicholson spotted a few nice touches from 'Simply' in regards to his shirt and tributes to Robert Thornton.
Thornton sadly lost his wife Christine last month, a figure that was beloved by the darting community and West wants to keep the thought of him and also his wife alive when it comes to his time on the oche.
He said about spending the week playing the likes of Andreas Harrysson and friends including Kevin Painter in the place described as his second home and that he is just trying to block out any friendships.
"I hope to kind of build into the week and get some good games under my belt. When you come to darts you've just got to try and block all the friendships out and try to beat them up," said West to MODUS.
West also ran through his shirt and said about what he was wearing in relation to Thornton.
"I thought it'd be a nice touch for Robert to show that we're still thinking of him and supporting him. The badge for pancreatic cancer but also the light blue armband for Christine."
West sits third in the table after day two. Derek Coulson who he marvelled at also in his interview sits pretty at the top on 18 points ahead of Harrysson who has also majorly impressed in the past on the MODUS Super Series. Jon Worsley follows along on six points behind west while Keegan Brown and Tonni Sorensen round out the table.
Coulson in particular is in a great position to qualify from the latest group leaving West and co huge amounts of work to do tomorrow to catch him.
"I thought it'd be a nice touch for Robert, to show that we're still thinking of him and supporting him..."
