25 TV series we'd like do a virtual episode

With the entertainment world pretty much on hold, we've seen casts from various television shows — past and present ("Parks and Recreation," "All Rise," "Saturday Night Live") — take to the television, social media or streaming platforms to show us how some of our favorite characters are doing. One would assume more of this is to come as long as Hollywood remains shut down during the coronavirus pandemic.

That said, here are some current and past series we'd like to see get together for a little virtual fun.

We've seen "Saturday Night Live" take its crack at doing a virtual show. Now it's time for the "TGS" (later known as "TGS with Tracy Jordan") gang to reunite and give it go. But it would be even funnier to stick with a virtual behind-the-scenes look at the making of such a show. Liz (Tina Fey) and Frank (Judah Friedlander) and Pete (Scott Adsit) would again be in charge of making Tracy (Tracy Morgan) and Jenna (Jane Krakowski) look good. Even better, they don't tell Jack (Alec Baldwin) about the reunion, but he's likely to crash the virtual party anyway.

"Arrested Development"

"Arrested Development"
Fox/Netflix via IVA

Seeing if the Bluth family is even capable of coming together online might be comedy gold in itself. We think Michael (Jason Bateman), George-Michael (Michael Cera) and Maeby (Alia Shawkat) would probably be good with hooking up live from home. That said, one would think Gob (Will Arnett) would be the star of this show — attempting to hog most of the attention and making life miserable for the rest of his family...most notably, Michael. Can't wait to see that full body shot of Tobias (David Cross).

"The Big Bang Theory"

"The Big Bang Theory"
CBS via IVA

One of the most successful sitcoms in network television history, the "Big Bang" gang should have no trouble with a virtual social setting, as they are pretty much all introverts in the first place. It would be fun to see what has become of Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) following their Nobel Prize triumphs. How about Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and their budding family? Talk about a chance for big ratings?

All the main characters live in the same house, but it would still be quite entertaining to see them online. The most fun would be between Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross), trying to simply work the technology to communicate within the family. Bow is also an anesthesiologist, and she might still be working in her healthcare environment. Therefore, she can physically distance inside the house as a precaution, making this much more humorous.

"Bored to Death"

"Bored to Death"
HBO via IVA

It's been some time since we touched base with the "Bored to Death" trio: Jonathan (Jason Schwartzman), Ray (Zach Galifianakis) and George (Ted Danson). This was one of the more unheralded shows within the HBO universe, and catching up with the guys can bring us back to the time when we enjoyed them nearly a decade ago. Hopefully George's restaurant has made it through the coronavirus pandemic.

"Cheers"

"Cheers"
NBC via IVA

This would be kind of fun to see the whole gang back together. Can we imagine Norm (George Wendt) and Cliff (John Ratzenberger) — or even Carla (Rhea Perlman) — trying to stay in touch with their Cheers buddies in the virtual universe? We would guess even Woody (Woody Harrelson) might have a better chance of making the technology work than his buddies. Also, seeing Sam (Ted Danson) Zoom with Diane (Shelley Long) and Rebecca (Kirstie Alley) is can't-miss TV.

"Community"

"Community"
NBC via IVA

We saw how well a virtual meet-up did for the "Parks and Recreation." It would seem reuniting the cast of "Community" would be just as successful. Is Jeff (Joel McHale) still teaching? Does Britta (Gillian Jacobs) still like her parents. Of course, we can't wait to see what Abed (Danny Pudi) and Troy (Donald Glover) are doing today. Also, is Pierce (Chevy Chase) really dead? Or will he return as a virtual hologram?

"Family Guy"

Another case where everybody is in the same house. Of course, Brian might be shacking up with some female, and there's always a chance Peter has been locked down at the Clam with Joe and Quagmire. We assume baby Stewie is the most tech savvy of the bunch and can't wait to see what types of flashbacks are in store.

"The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"

"The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"
NBC via IVA

We're thinking this will just include Will (Will Smith) and Banks' children. Sure, it will be cool to see if Will, who no doubt is the star, has finally found his place in life. Fans need to know if Hilary (Karen Parsons) is still stuck up and full of herself and how successful her show turned out to be. But really, we all want to see Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro) dance

"Friends"

"Friends"
NBC via IVA

For years fans have been clamoring for a "Friends" reunion. Why not a virtual one? We need to know if Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) were really able to make it work. What about Monica ( Courteney Cox) and Chandler ( Matthew Perry)? How big is their family out in the 'burbs? We hope to check in on Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) and Mike (which would bring Paul Rudd into the mix). Then there is Joey (Matt LeBlanc). How he's doing with Hollywood locked down?

"Gilmore Girls"

The CW/The WB via IVA

As 2020 goes on, we'll celebrate the 20th anniversary of the debut of this quirky, creatively written sitcom about the mother-daughter combo of Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel). The last time we saw them from the 2016 Netflix miniseries, Lorelai had married Luke (Scott Patterson) and Rory was pregnant. Now, we're hearing that more actual Gilmore episodes are in the works, but we need our Stars Hollow fix to be satisfied much sooner.

"Girlfriends"

Before Tracee Ellis Ross hit it big with "Black-ish," she starred as the love-starred, highly organized and moral Joan on "Girlfriends." When talking TV reunions, we got it for this popular series in a roundabout-way during a Season 6 episode of "Black-ish." But we want them all back: Maya (Golden Brooks), Lynn (Persia White), Toni (Jill Marie Jones) and William (Reggie Hayes). There is a lot of catching up to do.

"High Fidelity"

Based on the Nick Hornby book that led to the John Cusack film, Zoë Kravitz plays "Rob," the owner of Championship Vinyl. Unfortunately, record shops aren't considered essential businesses, but perhaps her curbside pickup effort is going well. How long can Cherise (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) and Simon (David H. Holmes) go without seeing their friend up close? Hopefully, the home background music will prove worthy of the time.

Haven't caught up with the boys for the more popular and credible British version of this comedy. They are no longer boys, yet fans of this series (which also produced two movies) might want to know what has become of Will (Simon Bird), Simon (Joe Thomas), Jay (James Buckley) and Neil (Blake Harrison). Hopefully their virtual antics can somewhat compare to those capricious TV personas.

"It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia"

"It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia"
FX/FXX via IVA

Hopefully we will not have to wait long for Season 15 of this raunchy and hilarious sitcom. In the meantime, maybe the gang from Paddy's can get together for a little virtual meet-up — that is if they are not hungover or sleeping. There could be concern about the future of Paddy's in this climate. In an effort to make some money, Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Co. might try their hands at coming up with an ultimately useless Covid-19 vaccine. Just seems like something they would do.

"Living Single"

Much like "Girlfriends," an extensive, albeit, virtual reunion with the "Living Single" characters would likely be a hit with its passionate fan base. How are Khadijah (Queen Latifah) and Scooter doing? Is Synclaire (Kim Coles) still living the good life as an actress? Max (Erika Alexander), we assume, has a family, while Regine (Kim Fields)...well, she might be the most interesting of the bunch to see what's up.

"Master of None"

Aziz Ansari was decent during the "Parks and Recreation" virtual reunion episode, but this offers the opportunity to revive Dev. How is his acting career going? Has he graduated from commercials? Perhaps more importantly, is he with Francesca (Alessandra Mastronardi)? This was a cleverly written and delivered series that we wish lasted more than its two seasons.

"Modern Family"

"Modern Family"
ABC via IVA

Actually, one of the funnier episodes in the annals of "Modern Family" was the Season 6's "Connection Lost," which featured the three families communicating via text, Skype and other devices or platforms. In this instance, we can check on the travels of Claire (Julie Bowen) and Phil (Ty Burrell) and the adventures of the younger family members now on their own. Of course, it will be interesting to see how Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and family are doing while sheltering in Missouri.

"My So-Called Life"

"My So-Called Life"

It lasted only one season, but we can still smell the teen angst left in the dust of "My So-Called Life." In real life, Claire Danes and Jared Leto are award-winning actors. Back in the mid-1990s, Danes' moody Angela Chase was smitten with bad-boy-lite Jordan Catalano (played by Leto). Some Gen-Xers might jump at the chance to see what those two — plus Ricky (Wilson Cruz), Rayanne (A.J. Langer) and Brian Krakow (Devon Gummersall) — are doing now.

"The Office"

"The Office"
NBC via IVA

John Krasinski has done a nice job with his "Some Good News"  streams, but it would also be a lot of fun to see his Jim Halpert in a virtual catch-up with the cast of "The Office." We'd like to think Jim and Pam (Jenna Fischer) and are still in touch with Michael (Steve Carell). While it might not be possible to see all the characters from the Dunder-Mifflin Scranton branch, we'd love to see what shenanigans Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Andy (Ed Helms) are up to.

"Portlandia"

"Portlandia"
IFC via IVA

Let's head to the Pacific Northwest and see how Fred (Fred Armisen) and Carrie (Carrie Brownstein) are doing. While the duo is tech savvy and has plenty of options to connect via physical distancing, some of the show's other beloved characters might not be as inclined. We see Peter and Nance a little hesitant to start Zooming, while Dave and Kath should be fine. Also, we need to see how Women and Women First bookstore owners Candace and Toni are handling the new normal. Not to mention, we're eager to see how Spike is doing?

"Seinfeld"

"Seinfeld"
NBC via IVA

If we turn our attention to Curb Your Enthusiasm world for a moment, we got a glimpse into the lives of the famed "Seinfeld" characters from a Season 7 episode. That featured a "Seinfeld" reunion show, in which the cast was out of prison. Through the miracle of science, Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) and Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) have a child while George (Jason Alexander) is trying to win his ex-wife and money back from the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme. Would love to see how the dysfunction of the four main characters continues to grow.

"Schitt's Creek"

"Schitt's Creek"
CBC/Netflix via IVA

After six seasons, we just said goodbye to the Rose family. That doesn't mean we can't check up on them in the coming weeks. This is family dysfunction at its best, and the Roses are not always a patient group. Therefore, it would be fun to see how things are going with Johnny (Eugene Levy) and Moira (Catherine O'Hara). Do we think David (Daniel Levy) is still married? Don't forget Roland (Chris Elliott).

"South Park"

"South Park"

This would be an experience, especially, if it can be done uncut. One can picture Stan, Kyle, Cartman and even Kenny, going virtual to keep in touch. Of course, these might be the kind of kids who would challenge any physical distancing guidelines. We can also see the boys pranking the likes of Donald Trump — just to have a little fun with another cartoon-like character.

"Veep"

"Veep"
HBO via IVA

OK, we learned of Selena's fate, but in the meantime it would be quite the good time to see how the gang is doing shortly after the recent end of the comedy's run. Selena (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) would most certainly run the virtual show filled with obscene insults toward her former federal colleagues. Virtual Jonah (Timothy Simons) could be fun. We can see Mike (Matt Walsh) enduring connection issues and Amy (Anna Chlumsky) complaining about her lot in life. Also, is it possible for Gary (Tony Hale) to connect from prison?
