Barry Keoghan dropped himself in a sticky situation at the Variety Studio out of the Toronto International Film Festival, where his latest film, Bird, is playing for audiences.
From the Palme d'Or nominated Andrea Arnold, Bird follows Bailey (Nykiya Adams), who lives with her brother and her father (Keoghan), who raises the kids alone but doesn't have much time to devote to either. Bailey crosses paths with the mysterious Bird (Franz Rogowski), and the two strike up an unlikely friendship.
However, another role of Keoghan's got brought up at the Variety Studio following a conversation about what Nykiya Adams would like to do next with her career.
Adams mentioned Spider-Man, and the interviewer took the superhero bait and switched it on Keoghan, who starred in Matt Reeves' The Batman as "Unseen Arkham Prisoner", aka Joker.
"What's up with Joker? Batman II?" asked Variety, and Keoghan immediately shut it down with, "You know I can't say much."
However, Keoghan did offer up a little more, saying, "Look, we'll see where that goes. Again, incredible experience, and, y'know... yeah. That's it. I can't say it."
So, while that offers very little, it does plant the seed that we might see Barry Keoghan back in the DC world for Reeves' Batman: Part II, which is heading to theaters in October 2026.
The only confirmed cast for now are Colin Farrell, Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright.
