Carlos Alcaraz‘s love for golfing is well known among fans. As he prepares to accomplish an elusive three-peat, the Spaniard caught up with British actor Tom Holland at SW19 ahead of his quarterfinal match.
After having played golf with Andy Murray ahead of the tournament, Alcaraz found a new golf partner in Holland, after their interaction on Tuesday. Alcaraz called out to Holland in a video that has now gone viral:
Tom! I saw you playing golf as well. Good swing, good swing, eh?
The 29-year-old star quickly responded:
We should play!

Alcaraz gladly accepted his suggestion. Holland, akin to Alcaraz, loves golf. He played in the 2024 BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am event alongside his fellow compatriot and seven-time DP World Tour champion, Tommy Fleetwood. This event which takes place in Wentworth Club in Surrey, showcases DP World Tour professionals alongside celebrities from the field of sports and entertainment.
After pulling up to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix on Sunday, where Tom Holland came to support the eight-time champ and Ferrari ace, Lewis Hamilton, he then attended the Wimbledon Championships on Tuesday. He graced Carlos Alcaraz‘s quarterfinal match against home hope Cameron Norrie at Centre Court.
Several celebrities have attended the event this year, with Alcaraz’s US Open mixed doubles partner Emma Raducanu also attending his fourth round match on Sunday. Holland has attended Alcaraz’s matches on previous occasions too, as he watched him defend the Indian Wells title last year in the final against Daniil Medvedev .
After a stern challenge in the previous rounds, especially his opening round where he was pushed to five sets, Carlos Alcaraz had a relatively smoother and more dominant victory in his Wimbledon quarterfinal match against Cameron Norrie extending his match win streak to 23. The 22-year-old sealed the victory with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-3, 6-3, saving all five of the break points he faced.
While Alcaraz was brilliant against Norrie in all aspects, his first serve stood out in particular. The two-time defending champion found the spots with ease, winning 89% (50/56) of first-serve points and hitting 13 aces.
In the semifinal, the five-time Grand Slam champion will face fifth seed Taylor Fritz, who has made it to this round of the tournament for the first time. Alcaraz has a 2-0 head-to-head record over the American and their upcoming match will mark their first meeting on grass court.
Fritz, a five-time grass court champion has had a good grass swing winning the Stuttgart Open title, and defending his Eastbourne Open title. In his previous rounds at Wimbledon, the 27-year-old overcame Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Gabriel Diallo, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Jordan Thompson, and Karen Khachanov.
With World No. 1 Jannik Sinner‘s recent elbow injury which he sustained during his round of 16 match Monday, seven-time champion Novak Djokovic might be the favorite to potentially meet Alcaraz in the finals, meaning a third consecutive Wimbledon final matchup between the pair.
Should Alcaraz win the tournament, he would achieve the elusive Channel Slam twice. Only Bjorn Borg and Rafael Nadal have accomplished the Channel Slam multiple times. He will also join Bjorn Borg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as players who have won three consecutive Wimbledon titles.
