Cristin Milioti has come a long way from being the titular mother in "How I Met Your Mother." Although, that was a pretty good gig to get at the time. Milioti is nominated for her lead performance in HBO Max's "The Penguin," though winning will be tough. She's gotten a lot of love for that show, but she's up against Michelle Williams and Cate Blanchett. You know, two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett. Riding the wave of this nomination, Milioti has grabbed a lead role in a new horror movie called "Buddy."
There are no plot details for "Buddy," but it's begun filming in Ohio and is being promoted as a "new experience in horror." The film was co-written and is being directed by Casper Kelly. Kelly is an Adult Swim legend. Among other things, he co-created "Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell" and he wrote and directed perhaps the iconic piece of Adult Swim fare, "Too Many Cooks."
Yeah, "The 'Too Many Cooks' guy is directing a horror movie" is going to entice people. Now that Milioti is starring, it's even more intriguing. This will be Milioti's first live-action leading role in a film since she co-starred in "Palm Springs." Maybe she won't win an Emmy, but the nomination certainly is helping her career, and is already helping "Buddy."
