Elaine Hendrix discusses reuniting with 'The Parent Trap' co-star Lindsay Lohan

Elaine Hendrix is talking about her fun cameo in Freakier Friday, which marks her on-screen reunion with her The Parent Trap co-star, Lindsay Lohan. The Parent Trap came out back in 1998, and Freaky Friday premiered in 2003.

The story picks up years after Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.

Hendrix takes on the role of Anna's editor at Rolling Stone, Blake Kale. "I love Lindsay so much, and we had such a special experience together," the actress told The Post. "None of us could have predicted what The Parent Trap became. All we knew was that we were on this very beautiful, lavish movie set, playing these incredible characters in this very beloved story."

When reflecting on The Parent Trap, she shared, "All this time, it’s followed all of us with so much love, and energy, and joy from people of all walks of life still. That’s a rare thing in this industry." She then added, "Here we are, all these years later, still in the business… she was a kid, now we’re both adults, and we’re staying in touch. The whole thing makes for one magical soup."

Hendrix and Parent Trap co-star Lisa Ann Walter, her "bestie," were even there to support Lohan at the world premiere in Los Angeles. "From my point of view, the night was about Lindsay and coming back into the Freaky Friday world through Freakier Friday," she expressed. "Because there is so much love for The Parent Trap, I’m sure people would want that. But I also didn’t want it to take anything away from what she was experiencing that night."

Naturally, this led to the trio taking a photo together after someone said, "Hey, we want to do a photo with the two of you and Lindsay." The actress explained, "[The] next thing you know, we’re breaking the internet — and oh my gosh. It was really sweet and very special."

Freakier Friday is now playing in theaters.
