'Karate Kid: Legends' star Ming-Na Wen calls Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan "gems of a human being"

Ming-Na has some high praise for her Karate Kid: Legends co-stars, Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan. "They are gems, gems of a human being," the actress expressed to The Hollywood Reporter, also noting how different the two are in real life. "[Ralph] brings so much heart to this project because this franchise is his baby, and I love how he is honoring Pat Morita, Mr. Miyagi, and all that about Karate Kid. He's bringing it."

Macchio has played the role of Daniel LaRusso in The Karate Kid, The Karate Kid Part II, and The Karate Kid Part III. He then starred in Cobra Kai for six seasons, all available to watch on Netflix.

As for Chan, he starred as Mr. Han in 2010's The Karate Kid. Ben Wang, who plays Li Fong, says he was "speechless" when he met the actor for the first time, adding, "I grew up in China, and for me, Jackie Chan is ubiquitous with just cinema, plain and simple. He's an all-timer; it's like meeting Charlie Chaplin or something. He's going down in history for sure."

Karate Kid: Legends unites the iconic martial arts masters of one of the most beloved film franchises of all time to tell a completely new story full of action and heart. When kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) relocates to New York City with his mother to attend a prestigious new school, he finds solace in a new friendship with a classmate and her father. But his newfound peace is short-lived after he attracts unwanted attention from a formidable local karate champion. Driven by a desire to defend himself, Li embarks on a journey to enter the ultimate karate competition. Guided by the wisdom of his kung fu teacher, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), and the legendary Karate Kid, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Li merges their unique styles to prepare for an epic martial arts showdown.

Additionally, the cast includes Joshua Jackson and Sadie Stanley. Karate Kid: Legends hits theaters on May 30.
