James Cameron doesn't mess around, he doesn't lack for confidence, and he can "scoreboard" anybody who speaks skeptically of his moviemaking plans. His resume is unparalleled. 'Titanic,' 'Avatar,' and 'Avatar: The Way of Water,' and that's before you get into his 'Terminator' movies or 'Aliens.'
Recently, Big Jim spoke on his future moviemaking plans, and he confirmed he's going to keep making 'Avatar' movies.
'Fire and Ash' is coming out this December, and it will presumably clear $2 billion, because that's what 'Avatar' movies do. While Cameron has some movies he's producing, his plans as a director are fully focused on the fourth and fifth 'Avatar' films. Though he's about to turn 71, he's aiming to handle both movies as the director:
There’s no reason not to. I’m healthy, I’m good to go. I’m not going to rule it out. I mean, I’ve got to make it in a vigorous way, to handle the kind of volume and energy of the work for another six or seven years. You know what I mean? I might not be able to do that… [but] if I can, I’ll just do it.
Oh, and if you were questioning Cameron's decision to dedicate a couple decades of his life to 'Avatar?'
I’ve justified making ‘Avatar’ movies to myself for the last 20 years, not based on how much money we made, but on the basis that hopefully it can do some good. It can help connect us. It can help connect us to our lost aspect of ourself that connects with nature and respects nature and all those things.
There you have it. Camerson is raking in stacks on stacks on stacks and allowing humans to reconnect with nature. Are you going to tell him otherwise? Good luck with that.
