Many fans were surprised to realize that Lola Tung and Nicholas Alexander Chavez's scene was cut from Jennifer Kaytin Robinson's I Know What You Did Last Summer. The director said it was a hard choice, calling the actors "fantastic," but concluding that ultimately "it didn’t work within the film that we were creating."
Chavez is now sharing his reaction, telling US Weekly, "I mean, Jennifer is a good friend. She’s really, really cool people, and, you know, me and Lola had a really, really good time. But, like, look — that’s filmmaking."
He wouldn't give any information on what his role actually was, but he did speak on whether or not he would be open to appearing in a potential sequel: "You know, ask me tomorrow, I’ll have a million different answers for you. The only thing that matters at this point in my career is just doing good material with people who I love and people who I believe in and who believe in me."
The movie marked the return of Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. to their iconic roles of Julie James and Ray Bronson from the 1997 film and 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
The cast also includes Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, and Austin Nichols.
