Jennifer Aniston calls David Schwimmer dating rumors 'bizarre': 'That's my brother'

Remember the split-second last month when the internet was convinced Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer were dating?

"That was bizarre," Aniston told Entertainment Tonight while promoting the second season of The Morning Show with Reese Witherspoon. "I could not believe that, actually. Like, really? That's my brother. But I understand it, though. It just shows you how hopeful people are for fantasies, for dreams to come true."

Rumors began swirling of a possible romance between the former Friends costars Aug. 10, but Schwimmer's rep crushed everyone's dreams the following day by telling The Sun there was "no truth" to it and similarly shut down any speculation to BuzzFeed News.

Aniston, 52, and Schwimmer, 54, played Rachel Green and Ross Geller, respectively, for the duration of Friends' iconic 10-year run in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In the series, Ross and Rachel had a dramatic and rocky on-and-off relationship but were clearly always meant for each other.

By the end, as you'll remember, Rachel got off the plane headed to Paris in order to stay in New York City and finally be with Ross forever, as a family of three with their daughter, Emma.

But during HBO Max's Friends: The Reunion that began streaming in May, Aniston and Schwimmer admitted to having real-life crushes on each other while filming the first season:

While Ross and Rachel are firmly in the past and Aniston and Schwimmer are nothing more than old friends, true Aniston fans can still enjoy an overload of media exposure below ahead of The Morning Show's second season premiere on Apple TV Plus this Friday.
