Josh Brolin Is Open To Returning As Thanos In ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ On One Condition

While Josh Brolin didn’t confirm his involvement in the upcoming Avengers film, he expressed openness to reprising the role, given the right circumstances. “I’m not kidding—There’s a thing with playing Thanos. It’s like, ‘Oh, they’re going to bring Thanos back.’ It’s like Sicario; it has to be right,” he stated.

“It’s like Ryan Reynolds and I talking about Taylor Swift and we should be talking about Deadpool 4. But we go back and forth. Again, it’s what in his mind fits, what in my mind fits. Thanos has to fit if you’re going to bring him back,” Brolin explained. The ‘Secret Wars’ storyline offers a perfect opportunity for Thanos to return to the MCU. 

Moreover, the multiverse-spanning event could introduce countless variants of the character. A variant of Thanos could emerge as a major threat to the heroes, or perhaps even join forces with other villains. While there’s no official confirmation yet, Brolin’s comments have reignited excitement among fans. 

Marvel Insider Reports Josh Brolin Will Come Back As Thanos 

While Josh Brolin hasn’t explicitly confirmed his return to the MCU for ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, Marvel insider MyTimeToShine claims there is a strong possibility. “He’s coming back,” the insider wrote on X.

Besides, Brolin acknowledged the allure of bringing Thanos back but stressed the need for a compelling narrative that justifies his return — which is a fair expectation from Marvel.

With Marvel always being secretive, Brolin already being in the cast of the film wouldn’t be that far-fetched. 

Previously, MTTSH reported that Josh Brolin was in talks with Marvel to return as the Mad Titan. Now, he claims that the actor will return. So, anything is possible.
