Lady Gaga on sharing six Grammy nominations with Tony Bennett: 'I just keep crying'

Lady Gaga has a special bond with Tony Bennett.

The Recording Academy unveiled all the nominees for the forthcoming 64th Grammy Awards on Tuesday morning (Nov. 23), and Gaga and Bennett share six nominations: album of the year ("Love for Sale"), record of the year ("I Get a Kick Out of You"), best pop duo/group performance ("I Get a Kick Out of You"), best traditional pop vocal album ("Love for Sale"), best engineered album, non-classical ("Love for Sale"), and best music video ("I Get a Kick Out of You").

Gaga, 35, posted an emotional note in reaction.

Bennett publicly disclosed he has Alzheimer's in February, a diagnosis he first received in 2016. Last month, "60 Minutes" gave an intimate look at Bennett's ongoing struggle with the disease while chronicling his performance with Gaga at Radio City Music Hall around his 95th birthday.

Gaga discussed Bennett, whom she described as her "musical companion," during her visit to "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" Tuesday night.

"Love for Sale" is Bennett and Gaga's second and final collaborative jazz covers album after 2014's "Cheek to Cheek," which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy for best traditional pop vocal album. Released Oct. 1, "Love for Sale" is made up of covers of Cole Porter records and snagged the No. 1 spot on Billboard's jazz chart. It also marks Bennett's final studio album.

Bennett is an 18-time Grammy winner (36-time nominee), and Gaga has won 12 Grammys. Their two sold-out Radio City Music Hall shows from August, "One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga," will air Sunday on CBS and stream simultaneously on Paramount Plus.

The 64th Grammy Awards are scheduled to broadcast live from the Staples Center (changing to Crypto.com Arena as of Christmas Day) in Los Angeles on Jan. 31, 2022, beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.
