Before competing in Friday's race at Nashville Superspeedway, NASCAR Truck Series driver Frankie Muniz sent a message to legendary actor Tom Cruise on social media.
Muniz became a Hollywood star in the 2000s due to his work on "Malcom in the Middle," which is actually coming back soon. In fact, the 39-year-old actor revealed that he wrapped filming for the popular sitcom earlier this month.
"Just wrapped filming the Malcolm in the Middle reboot, and man, I’m still reeling. This experience was straight-up incredible—like stepping back into Malcolm’s wild world but with all the love and chaos cranked to 11. Reuniting with the cast, getting to know some new characters, laughing till it hurt, and making new memories on set felt like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from. It went by so fast, like a blur of perfect moments. I wish it could go on forever," Muniz wrote on X.
Though it's unclear when "Malcom in the Middle" will return to TV, Muniz is already thinking about his next project.
Judging by his recent social media post, Muniz has his sights set on appearing in a NASCAR movie.
Back in 1990, Cruise played a NASCAR driver in the film "Days of Thunder." He made it clear a legacy sequel is on the table for Paramount Pictures.
"It took me 35 years to figure out Top Gun: Maverick, so all of these things we’re working on, we’re discussing [sequels to] Days of Thunder and Top Gun: Maverick. There’s numerous other films that we’re actively working on right now," Cruise said. "I’m always shooting a film, prepping a film, posting a film. I just finished a film with Alejandro Iñárritu too, who did The Revenant, that was an extraordinary experience."
If Cruise goes through with a "Days of Thunder" sequel, Muniz would like to be part of the cast.
"Just saying this out loud... If they make a Days of Thunder movie and I'm not in it for even a little bit, I failed in every aspect of my being," Muniz wrote on social media.
It'd make sense for Muniz to be in the "Days of Thunder" sequel. He's a legitimate NASCAR driver who knows how to act.
Besides, the original "Days of Thunder" film featured a handful of NASCAR drivers, including Richard Petty, Rusty Wallace and Harry Gant.
