Fans are getting their first look at Tara Wood's new four-part documentary about the artistic evolution and life of Tim Burton. There will be many recognizable faces included such as Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Keaton, and Jenna Ortega.
Follow Tim Burton’s dream journey into the themes and relationships that shape his work, from the Misunderstood Monster to the dichotomy of dark vs light, and the magic of collaboration with fellow “outsiders” Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Helena Bonham Carter, and more...
"Tim is a rare thing in cinema," Depp expressed in the video. "He's an auteur, he's a visionary, he's an artist with images and thoughts. [He's] got a lot going on in there. Tim is a real thing, really the real, real thing.
“I would love to take a trip inside his brain, the kingdom that is his heart, where these characters live,” Ryder added. "They just roam around and come out from sketches to film."
Ryder recently reprised her Beetlejuice role alongside Keaton and Catherine O'Hara in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which was released last year. The sequel also starred Ortega, who plays the title role in Netflix's Wednesday, executive produced by Burton.
"He's always drawing, he's always working on something artistically," Keaton explained. "His brain is working so fast, much faster than the words want to come out."
"Tim tells his life story through his filmography, and the doc takes us on a truly inspiring journey through decades of cinematic history, filled with deep personal insights, passions, and struggles," Wood said.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this will be “the first time the famed director has supported a project about his work and includes exclusive interviews, unpublished artworks and a never-before-seen stop-motion short film."
The first episode of the docuseries was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.
