'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' renewed for a third season

Fans of Percy Jackson and the Olympians got an exciting surprise today. Ahead of the second season's release, it has been announced that the series will be returning for a third season.

Author Rick Riordan teased the update, posting on Instagram with the caption, "Guys, we found the dam snack bar . . . head over to @percyseries for some amazing news!"

The show, which is based on the best-selling book series by Riordan, stars Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, Charlie Bushnell as Luke, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse, and Daniel Diemer as Tyson.

Jeffries shared the news on her Instagram Stories, writing, "Are you ready!!! Szn 3!!!!" The second season, based on The Sea of Monsters, is set to premiere in December of 2025.

"From the moment Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages," explained Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, according to Variety. "With season two set to premiere this December, we’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season. Huge thanks to our incredible cast and creative team, our partners at 20th Television, and our visionary and talented producers who continue to bring Rick Riordan’s world to life with such depth and imagination."

In an interview with TV Insider, Scobell discussed the upcoming season, saying, "This season has a lot more action than last season for sure. I feel like last season was very much like, we would stay in one place and have conversation and then there’d be an action sequence, you know what I mean? It was awesome. But this season, the stakes are higher for our characters, so it almost feels like there’s never a place where we just stop and talk. We’re almost always doing something, which I think it fits this book perfectly. There’s just so much at stake for our characters."

As for the third season, it will be based on The Titan’s Curse. The book series has a total of 7 books as of now, with the most recent installment, Wrath of the Triple Goddess, released in September of last year.
