Fans of the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout received a double dose of good news on May 12, 2025, when Amazon Prime Video announced an early renewal of Season 3 ahead of the release window for Season 2, which is set to debut in December 2025.

Details of the critically acclaimed hit series were released during Prime Video's annual upfront presentation in New York City, with actors Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins appearing on stage for the announcement. The news came in advance of Season 2, which was an exciting surprise to fans who didn't expect episodes to premiere until 2026 at the earliest due to the LA fires.

“We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of ‘Fallout,’” said Vernon Sanders, global head of television, Amazon reports. “Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video. Together with our amazing partners at Bethesda Games and Bethesda Softworks, we are delighted to announce a third season of ‘Fallout,’ well ahead of the much-anticipated debut of Season 2.”

The second season will pick up in the aftermath of Season 1's finale, taking audiences through the wasteland of the Mojave Desert to the ruins of New Vegas, one of the most notable, fan-favorite locations and games in the series to this day.

“The holidays came a little early this year - we are thrilled to be ending the world all over again for a third season of Fallout,” Executive Producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy said in a joint statement according to IGN. “On behalf of our brilliant cast and crew, our showrunners [Geneva Robertson-Dworet] and [Graham Wagner], and our partners at Bethesda, we’re grateful to our incredible collaborators at Amazon MGM Studios and to the amazing fans as we continue our adventures in the wasteland together.”

News that Season 2 was set to premiere this year came as a surprise to fans of the Bethesda game-inspired show. With the LA wildfires halting production, many viewers assumed new episodes wouldn't drop until 2026, so a Season 2 premiere window, a teaser trailer and confirmation of Season 3 was actually a triple dose of good news.

Season 2 will be available in December exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries worldwide.
