When it comes to fictional small towns being the scariest places on Earth, there’s no place quite like Silent Hill. The level of sadistic and supernatural activity there is nuts. In fact, it is enough to fuel the beloved Silent Hill franchise, which is somehow over 25 years old. We’ve gotten a few games and even a couple of movies, with Silent Hill: Revelation being the most recent in 2012. Now, the franchise is back with a fresh trailer for the long-awaited Return to Silent Hill film.
This film, which is based on the Silent Hill 2 game, was announced back in 2022 and spent the last couple of years in a couple of shooting locations. Now, we get to see a teaser of the final product and, while it isn’t sleek like higher budget films, Return to Silent Hill does convey the games’ vibes in this trailer.
In it, we meet James (Jeremy Irvine), a man whose heart is broken after he’s lost the love of his life (Hannah Emily Anderson). He ends up in Silent Hill in search of her (we guess she’s not dead… or is she?), and things are obviously not great there. It gets dark as he tries to maintain his sanity and, well, not die to see if he can save her. All we can say is good luck bro.
Return to Silent Hill will creep into theaters in January 2026.
