Zoe Saldana stressed the importance of people's "right to be who they are" as she accepted her Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award on Sunday (23.02.25).
The 47-year-old actress picked up the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role accolade for 'Emilia Perez' and after paying tribute to fellow nominees Monica Barbaro ('A Complete Unknown') ,Jamie Lee Curtis ('The Last Showgirl'), Danielle Deadwyler ('The Piano Lesson') and Ariana Grande ('Wicked'), the star admitted she was "so grateful" to have the support of the actors' union.
Speaking on stage at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, she said: “To be in this room is a true honour. this is my community, this is my circus.
"Thank you to SAG-AFTRA. Igot my first SAG card in 1998. I didn’t even know what SAG was.
"Thank you to my fellow nominees, it was an honour to watch your performances this year, I was deeply moved.
"I am grateful that my mother and father and sisters looked it up and helped me educate myself to know what it means to be a part of a union that protects me so I can make a living out of this crazy industry.
After thanking her "working family", and her "beautiful" family, Zoe highlighted the message of the movie was "truth and love" and urged actors to embrace their "artistic freedom".
She added: “I am proud to be a part of a union that allows me to be who I am. I’ve never been questioned where I come from or judged for how I speak or what my pronouns are. Everyone has the right to be who they are.
"‘Emilia Perez‘ is about truth and love and us actors really have to tell stories that are thought-provoking and beautiful and live within the spectrum of artistic freedom.”

Kevin Durant typically has no filter when interacting with fans online. But this time, while answering fan questions on X, Durant inadvertently ended up taking a shot at Stephen Curry. When a fan asked him why he thinks Warriors fans hate him, he seemingly pointed at Curry's fans. "Them finals MVPs, they will never recover," said Durant in response. One of the biggest debates for Stephen Curry's legacy had been that until 2022, he hadn't won a Finals MVP award despite winning three NBA championships before that. In 2015, Andre Iguodala received the Finals MVP award instead of Curry, and in 2017 and 2018, Kevin Durant was awarded the Finals MVP, and not Curry. Therefore, Durant seems to believe that since he won two Finals MVPs over Curry, loyal Warriors fans who love Curry started criticizing Durant. This planted the seed that developed into Warriors fans disliking Durant, despite him winning two titles with them. Let's take a look at Durant and Curry's performance in 2017 and 2018 to see if Durant was really better than Curry in those two seasons' Finals runs against the Cavaliers. In the 2017 NBA Finals, Durant averaged 35.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in five games played. He shot 55.6% from the floor and 47.4% from beyond the three-point line. In the same year, Curry averaged 26.8 points, 9.4 assists, and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 44% from the field and 38.8% from beyond the arc. In the 2018 NBA Finals, Durant averaged 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists as the Warriors swept the Cavaliers. He shot 52.6% from the field and 40.9% from beyond the three-point arc. Meanwhile, Curry averaged 27.5 points, 6.8 assists, and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 40.2% from the field and 41.5% from beyond the three-point line. In both seasons, it is evidently clear that Durant contributed a lot more than Curry in almost every aspect and hence was justified in being awarded the two Finals MVP awards. However, since Curry ended up not winning the Finals MVP award in four consecutive visits to the NBA Finals from 2015 to 2018, his fans unfairly blamed Kevin Durant for stealing the award from him. Curry and Durant have a lot of mutual respect, but his fans evidently drove Durant out of the Warriors. According to NBA Insider Marc Spears, the Warriors fans regularly gave Curry MVP chants, and that did not sit right with Durant until very late with the Warriors. Spears hinted that these chants made Durant feel like Warriors fans did not fully embrace him. If Warriors fans did not criticize Durant as much as they did, maybe Durant could have made a return to the Warriors now instead of joining the Rockets? The world of possibilities and "what-ifs" here is endless.
Cowboys exec has blunt message about Micah Parsons' trade request
The Dallas Cowboys have not been able to come to an agreement with Micah Parsons on a long-term contract extension, but that does not mean the team has any plans to shop the star pass-rusher in trade talks. Parsons, who is making just over $24M in the final year of his rookie contract this season, publicly requested a trade from the Cowboys on Aug. 1. There have now been questions about whether he will report to work before Week 1. While Parsons has refused to practice in training camp, he traveled to Los Angeles with the Cowboys for their preseason game against the Rams on Saturday night. Before kickoff, Dallas executive vice president Stephen Jones said he was pleased with Parsons' decision to join the team. Jones also said the Cowboys "have no intention of trading Micah." It is a positive sign for the Cowboys that Parsons chose to be on the sideline for Saturday's exhibition game. The 26-year-old has also been with his teammates at training camp, though he has not been practicing. From a contractual standpoint, Parsons has very little leverage. He would have to forfeit game checks if he were to skip regular-season games, and his contract would eventually toll and carry over into 2026 if he were to sit out long enough. The Cowboys also still have the franchise tag available to use on Parsons in both 2026 and 2027. All Parsons can do is create a headache for the Cowboys, which has been a successful strategy for many players in the past. For what it's worth, a different Dallas star who had a contract standoff with the team last year believes the situation will eventually be resolved. Jones and his father, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, have made it clear that they will not entertain trade offers at this time. Parsons had 12 sacks in 13 games last season, so there is no question the team is better with him on the field. He has 52.5 sacks in 63 career games and is arguably the best pass-rusher in the NFL when healthy.

3 Steelers Rookies Who Impressed During The Exciting Preseason Opener Vs Jaguars
The Pittsburgh Steelers opened their 2025 preseason with a nail-biting win against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night. Rookie undrafted free agent Daryl Porter made the game-winning tackle inbounds in the final seconds, keeping the clock running and securing the 31-25 win. Porter was one of many rookies to make their debut on Saturday, in a game where 16 starters sat out both due to injury and veteran rest. Some, like defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, are expected to start right away, while others are fighting for a roster spot -- with many making a convincing case. One of these players was wide receiver Ke'Shawn Williams, who is on the outside looking in at a 53-man roster spot currently. While the receiver room in Pittsburgh is crowded, and the Steelers are unlikely to keep more than six wideouts, there have been questions about whether a young guy could steal the final spot from a veteran like Robert Woods. The speedy 5'9" receiver from Indiana made quite a case on Saturday, hauling in 2 catches for 55 yards and the game-winning TD from quarterback Skylar Thompson. If Williams wants to stick around and at least compete for a practice squad spot, it's important that he's able to prove that he's more than just a speedster, and grabbing jump balls from the hands of a defender is a good start. Williams wasn't the only offensive weapon who impressed. Rookie running back Max Hurleman also made his case for a roster spot on Saturday night. Thompson's connection with Hurleman shined in the two-minute drill to end the half, connecting on a pair of consecutive passes, one being a touchdown. While Hurleman's official position might be listed as running back, the Steelers view him as more than that. Hurleman has lined up out wide, as well as in the backfield, making him much more of a Swiss Army knife than a traditional runner. If he wants to stick around, Hurleman's versatility will be why he does so, and he will have to hope that he can usurp someone like Connor Heyward, who is a similar weapon in the passing game. Steelers' 2025 First-Round Pick Gets His First Start While guys like Hurleman and Williams fight for a roster spot, the rookie Harmon has his locked up. In fact, the Steelers have the utmost faith in the rookie, with Defensive Line Coach Karl Dunbar stating that he will be starting Week 1. "You can write that," Dunbar said earlier this summer. "He’s our starting left defensive end." Starting rookies immediately is not something that Pittsburgh typically does, and it shows that they see enough in Harmon to put him in right away. While the box score didn't pop for him on Saturday night, there was still plenty to like. Harmon was able to get in the backfield on multiple plays and create pressure -- something the Steelers have been looking for after moving on from Larry Ogunjobi earlier in the offseason. Harmon is going to add a vital piece to both the pass and run defense for Pittsburgh in 2025. The team is hoping to bounce back after a disappointing playoff performance in January that led to Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry rushing for nearly 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. Coming out of Oregon, Harmon was lauded for his ability to both stop the run and create pressure on quarterbacks, leading the FBS with 55 total pressures. Whether it be their first-round pick, or guys fighting on the bubble, there's no doubt that the rookies were a highlight of the team's preseason performance on Saturday. Whether they can stick around will be decided when the roster cutdown deadline passes on August 27th. The Denver Broncos are missing one key piece, and the answer is obvious
The Denver Broncos are hoping to mount a playoff run in 2025, and there’s one move they could make that would have a dramatic impact on their chances. Bo Nix had a lot of believers coming out of college, including the Denver Broncos head coach, Sean Payton. However, Nix exceeded all expectations in his rookie year, and the franchise now has a tremendous window of opportunity for the remainder of his rookie contract. The Broncos have four more years before having to worry about their QBs’ cap hit, and are already going all in on maximizing that potential. Denver Broncos should trade for Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill, and here’s why There have been a lot of rumors about Tyreek Hill’s availability this offseason, for several reasons. When the Miami Dolphins flamed out at the end of the 2024 season, Hill immediately declared that he was out in his post game interview. Hill said: “I’m opening the door. I’m out, bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day I’ve got to do what’s best for my career. I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.” The receiver later walked back that statement and apologized for it, but it certainly caused a stir. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said Hill was working on rebuilding trust with his teammates, but that it takes time. Others have said the relationship between Tua and his star receiver is fine, including retired tackle Terron Armstead, who is still spending a lot of time with the team. That said, Tyreek Hill is still showing up late for practice, and has made a few comments lately that may have rubbed teammates and coaches the wrong way once more. Hill commented on DeVon Achane’s involvement on third down, which Mike McDaniel responded to with a sarcastic and seemingly irritated tone later that day. It seems that the relationship between Hill and the Dolphins organization is being tested, and some believe that the veteran receiver is trying to find his way out of the franchise before the season begins. While he’s a star player for them, it would make sense for the Miami Dolphins to field trade calls on Hill before the end of August, when he’s due a $15.85 million roster bonus if still with the team. They could opt to trade him beforehand to avoid paying that sum themselves. It’s largely believed that this will be Tyreek Hill’s last season in Miami anyway, with the team having a get-out clause in his contract in 2026, before it turns into a $51 million cap hit the following season. Rather than release him for nothing next year, the Dolphins could instead generate a return now. The trade makes sense considering the rebuilding year they’re headed into, and moving Hill off the roster might, in a strange way, actually save Mike McDaniel’s job. The Denver Broncos should be at the front of the line if a trade becomes available, given their optimism for the next few years in the AFC. They just extended Courtland Sutton, but managed to do so while paying him WR2 money. DeVonta Smith is making $25 million a year for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Jaylen Waddle is making $28.25 for the Miami Dolphins. Both are WR2 within their respective offenses. Courtland Sutton’s new deal is worth $23 million per year, and according to Spotrac, the Broncos still have $25 million in cap space available this season. This is a team with a great young quarterback, a strong offensive line, and a reconstructed run game. They have a great X receiver in Sutton, and some good young players coming through, but two years of Tyreek Hill would be a game-changer for their offense, as it would for most teams in the NFL. The question is whether Sean Payton is willing to put up with the constant off-field complications that come with Tyreek Hill as a player. Mike McDaniel has certainly dealt with his fair share of it in Miami, and Andy Reid moved off of the star receiver several years ago. The Broncos are poised to challenge for the AFC West, and the addition of Tyreek Hill could make them favorites The Broncos saw a lot of Tyreek Hill during his prime years with the Kansas City Chiefs. They were rebuilding from the post-Peyton Manning Super Bowl era for the majority of those years, but are now finally in a position to once again challenge for the division title. Considering the way Bo Nix performed as a rookie, and the defense Sean Payton has constructed in Denver, they have every chance of being a contender in 2025. The Broncos already had one of the league’s most stubborn defensive units in 2024, which featured Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II and several stars across the defensive line. This year, they’ve added free agents Talanoa Hufanga and Dre Greenlaw to the unit, while also selecting cornerback Jahdae Barron in the first round of the 2025 draft. They have one of the most complete rosters in football, they’re well coached, and they’re all in to win right now in 2025. Adding Tyreek Hill makes perfect sense.
