Stanley Tucci is heading back to the Italian countryside, glass of wine in hand, for a second helping of his latest hit series. Deadline reported that Tucci In Italy has been officially renewed by National Geographic for a second season, much to the delight of food and travel lovers everywhere.
The Emmy-winning actor-turned-globe-trotter is trading red carpets for rolling vineyards once again. After charming viewers in the first five-episode run with tripe tastings and salads served in vases, Tucci is set to explore five more regions in Season 2, including a first-time stop in Le Marche and returns to foodie favorites like Sicily, Veneto, Campania and Sardinia.
But don’t expect the usual tourist traps. Tucci has carved out a reputation for going off the beaten plate—connecting with local chefs, farmers, winemakers and historians to unearth the culinary stories that define generations. It’s less about Michelin stars and more about the soul of the dish.
The announcement follows Tucci In Italy’s win at the Critics Choice Real TV Awards for Best Limited Series, where it beat out true crime heavyweights and buzzy docuseries alike. That win, and Tucci’s proven draw from his previous CNN series Searching for Italy, likely helped seal the deal for another season.
Produced by Salt Productions, which Tucci co-founded with Lottie Birmingham, and BBC Studios, the show blends gorgeous cinematography with Tucci’s signature wit and unfiltered reactions.
If you’ve ever wanted to watch a Hollywood star try cured lard with a straight face—or listen to a vineyard owner wax poetic about grapes while Tucci sneaks in a second glass—this is your show.
The second season will hit Nat Geo later this year, offering viewers another indulgent escape with Tucci as their guide. And let’s face it, if anyone can make fermented sheep’s milk or pig cheek pasta sound like a must-try, it’s Stanley Tucci.
