Taylor Swift has officially announced her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl. During a teaser clip for her upcoming appearance on the New Heights podcast, the album’s announcement followed a cryptic countdown on her website. Additionally, a social media montage was shown featuring images of Swift clad in orange.
The Life of a Showgirl is Swift’s first album since concluding her successful Eras Tour. The album’s title and orange aesthetic suggest a thematic connection to her extensive touring experience and a potential return to a pop sound.
Songwriting and playing guitar since the age of 12, Swift rose to prominence with her second album, Fearless. Released on November 11, 2008, the hit album spent 11 weeks atop the Billboard 200. This became Swfit’s first chart topper, and the longest-running number-one female country album.
Taylor Swift has received numerous accolades throughout her career, establishing herself as one of the most decorated artists in music history. She is also the first artist to have seven albums each sell over a million copies in their first week in the US. With her autobiographical songwriting and artistic reinventions, Swift is undeniably one of the biggest cultural icons of the 21-Century.
The Life of a Showgirl is now available for pre-order on Swift’s website, and on various other platforms. The presentation includes a glittery orange vinyl, cassette, and CD, along with a poster. Although physical copies of the album are expected to ship before October 13, 2025, the official release date has not been announced. Hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, the New Heights podcast episode will feature more details about the album. The episode is scheduled to air on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
