'The Odyssey' star Tom Holland says these co-stars have always been his heroes

Tom Holland is opening up about his experience working on Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, set to hit theaters on July 17, 2026.

"It was amazing. The job of a lifetime, without a doubt. The best experience I've had on the film set. Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we've ever seen," the actor told GQ. "Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma [Thomas] was absolutely fantastic. I've never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they're the best in the business for sure. To get a front row seat to that and to be a part of the process and to collaborate with a true master of his craft and learn from him was the best experience I've ever had."

He continued to express, "Matt Damon has always been a hero of mine, Anne Hathaway has always been a hero of mine. So to share scenes with them, to learn from them, to become friends with them, I couldn't have asked for a better job. And I’m so proud of the work I’ve done. I came to work every day with a real sense of purpose and a point to prove, and I’m so grateful for Chris to have given me that opportunity."

Holland also celebrated the Europa League win on set. "I was shooting Chris Nolan’s movie in LA. We were not allowed our phones on set, so I was not aware of the score. I kept going to the sneaky crew members who I knew always had their phones and kept asking them for updates," he shared. "I went to my trailer for lunch and caught the last 10 minutes of the game, and my celebration was coming back to set full of energy and doing a really fantastic scene. So that was really fun."

Universal Pictures described the movie on X as "a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology."

Additionally, the cast of The Odyssey includes Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo,
Elliot Page, Benny Safdie, Bill Irwin, Charlize Theron, Mia Goth, Himesh Patel, Corey Hawkins, Samantha Morton, and Jesse Garcia.
