'The Pitt' season two trailer: Noah Wylie sets up for another adrenaline rush day in the ER

'The Pitt' turned into a breakout hit for HBO Max, giving the platform a bona fide medical drama success for the first time in years. Starring Noah Wyle, the series quickly found an audience and carved out its own lane. Despite a few legal hurdles along the way, the show hasn’t lost momentum. Season two is set to arrive on HBO Max in January, and now there’s a trailer to prove it.

“The Pitt” is set at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, and its hook in the 15-episode first season was that each installment played out in real time, covering one hour of a 15-hour shift. Season two, as the trailer promises, marks a new day and a new shift, though the same high-stakes medical drama drives the story. That’s hardly a drawback.

The trailer arrives with some convenient timing. While season two won’t premiere until January, Emmy voting is underway. “The Pitt” is up for seven awards, including two for writing, two for directing, supporting actress, lead actor, and Outstanding Drama Series. Lead actor could come down to Noah Wyle versus Adam Scott of “Severance.”

Dropping the season two trailer now also works as a savvy reminder for Emmy voters. With “Severance” still early in its third season development, “The Pitt” is the one generating fresh buzz. For fans, it’s a teaser to keep the hype alive; for voters, it doubles as a quasi–For Your Consideration play.
