Watch action-packed new teaser trailer for Marvel Studios' 'Eternals'

If you're still on the fence about whether Chloé Zhao has range, Marvel Studios' Eternals is doing its best to nudge you with the first teaser trailer released Monday morning.

Directed by Zhao, who made history at April's 93rd Academy Awards as the first Chinese woman, first woman of color and second-ever woman to win an Oscar under the best directing umbrella, Eternals is a reaction to Avengers: Endgame (2019).

This synopsis comes directly from Marvel: "Marvel Studios' The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's most ancient enemy, The Deviants."

In the two-minute clip, the Eternals arrive to an unsuspecting quaint and quiet beach. "We have watched and guided," says Ajak, portrayed by Salma Hayek. "We have helped them progress. And seen them accomplish wonders. Throughout the years, we have never interfered. Until now."

Along with Hayek—who discussed what "an absolute shock" it was to be called for this film for the cover of Variety —the film boasts the likes of Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry and Richard Madden. Harrington and Madden previously co-starred in Game of Thrones.
