Whitney Peak reveals that Rachel Zegler "reached out and gave me some love" after being cast in 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping'

After all of the incredible cast announcements for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, we are slowly getting reactions from the actors about to join the franchise.

Whitney Peak, who is taking on the role of Lenore Dove Baird, said the time since her reveal has been "been a really warm welcome," adding, "Everything happened really quickly, but it is very much led by a lot of incredible women, and I do feel very lucky to be a part of it. I think I’ve been trying to not get too overwhelmed, not think about it too much until it’s happening, until we’re in it."

She continued to share with The Hollywood Reporter that The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes star Rachel Zegler "reached out and gave me some love, and I know that was really huge. It was just really incredible. The support that came through was really lovely. I was terrified, to be completely honest."

The rest of the cast so far includes Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, Molly McCann as Louella, Iona Bell as Lou Lou, Lili Taylor as Mags Flanagan, Ben Wang as Wyatt Callow, Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, McKenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, and Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee.

During the audition process, the actress explained, "I was like, 'Oh, well, I don’t know if I even stand chance of getting this or doing this — if I’m the right person for a job.' I just kept selling myself short and already wrote myself off before I gave myself a chance. So getting the part and being let into this world and given the opportunity has just been very pivotal to me and my development and my self-confidence and my self-worth and my relationship with myself. It’s like, you know what, yeah, we do belong here. We can keep going. And there is space for us everywhere."

THE HUNGER GAMES: SUNRISE ON THE REAPING will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.

As for Culkin, he recently told fans to "lower those expectations, please," continuing to comment, "I have no idea what I'm gonna do with that."

The adaptation of Suzanne Collins' newest prequel, directed and produced by Francis Lawrence, will be released in theaters on November 20, 2026.
