YouTube TV About To Get Some Skinny Options
USA Today Sports

If you think that YouTube TV (and streaming television services in general) is too expensive, the streaming service is about to launch a number of options that are more budget-friendly and still allow you to watch the channels you want most.

YouTube announced Monday that skinny bundles are on their way to YouTube TV, including a sports package that will give fans a way to watch the major sports networks as well as local channels at a discount to what subscribers already pay for the full service.

Sports Package Comes At Over 20% Discount Over YouTube TV

YouTube TV’s sports package is comprised of all the local channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX), along with NBC Sports Network, FS1, all of the ESPN networks as well as the entirety of ESPN Unlimited, ESPN’s direct-to-consumer streaming product (which will be available to sport package users later this year).  The sports package is set to be offered for $64.99, a 22 percent discount from the $83.99 cost of the full YouTube TV service.  And new YouTube TV customers will get the first year of the sports package at an additional $10 discount, taking the price down to $54.99 a month.

“This is the most complete sports product that’s put on the market to date,” YouTube vice president of subscription products Christian Oestlien told Lucas Shaw of Bloomberg Sunday. “We will have all of our major broadcast partners. And we’re pulling a lot of the content that had been made exclusive to their [streaming] services into YouTube TV.”

And for an additional $7, users can add the national news networks to the sports package plan as well, including Bloomberg, CNBC, C-SPAN, Fox Business, Fox News, and MS NOW (formerly called MSNBC).

YouTube says these new skinny bundles, nearly a dozen in total including the sports package, are set to roll out over the next several weeks.
