DISH Network has long been a leading satellite service. With more than 300 channels, a variety of add-ons, tons of on-demand content, pay-per-view rentals and more, it’s still one of the top choices for many viewers who want the complete cable TV package.
Few cable or satellite providers can compete with DISH’s channel lineup. But which package is right for you? Read on for a deep dive into each of DISH’s most popular plans and a list of which channels are included.
DISH may be one of the best satellite TV options available, but it doesn’t come cheap. With plans ranging from $84.99 to $114.99 per month and potential equipment fees, the service is one of the most expensive cable TV choices on the market. Add-on channel packages can quickly push your subscription cost even higher.
DISH does offer ways to save, though. Choosing a two- or three-year contract can save you as much as 20% off the advertised prices, and you’ll always get installation and your first receiver free.
DISH offers four basic plans. Prices range from $84.99 to $114.99 a month, and you’ll get between 190 and over 290 channels, depending on which package you choose.
In addition to everything in America’s Top 120, this plan includes:
On top of the channel lineup you get in America’s Top 120 Plus, this plan features:
For the maximum cable experience, America’s Top 250 adds the following channels to the above plan:
*Due to a carriage dispute, Hearst-owned local channels, including ABC, NBC, CBS, CW, MNT and IND have been removed from the DISH lineup in 27 markets. See the notice from DISH for more information.
If you see any holes in your cable needs within the above packages, don’t worry. DISH Network probably has the extras to fill them. The service offers a wide range of add-ons to expand your package.
DISH offers an array of sports add-ons that feature channels like:
Are movies and shows your main thing? DISH also offers tons of add-ons for extra movie channels, premium services, and adult content. Add-ons include:
DISH also offers several packages designed to cater to different interests, such as:
DISH offers quite a bit of live entertainment for sports fans. Even the basic plan includes staple channels like ESPN, ESPN2 and FS1. However, true fans will likely want to either add the Multi-Sport Pack or upgrade to America’s Top 120 Plus or higher to get the most out of their DISH subscription. DISH also offers pay-per-view options for live boxing, MMA events and more.
The best value for sports fans comes in the America’s Top 200 package. At that level, you get all your major national networks, plus league-specific action on MLB Network, NFL Network, NBA TV and NHL Network. This is comparable to a lot of other streaming services, but the biggest downside is that DISH comes up short in terms of regional sports networks. Streaming services like Fubo or DIRECTV STREAM may offer fans who want to follow their local teams more bang for their buck.
DISH has a plethora of family-friendly channels like Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, the Disney Channel and Boomerang. The service also offers add-ons with heartfelt family programming on networks like Lifetime Movies, Hallmark and Baby TV.
Parents will also be glad to know that they can set passcodes to block access to mature content on their receivers at home. Plus, the DISH Anywhere app allows you to create user profiles and restrict content based on each user’s age.
DISH offers a local channels pack, which features all the main local affiliates for broadcast networks like ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and PBS. The pack costs $12 a month to add your favorite local broadcasts. However, these channels are included in your plan if you opt for the three-year price lock.
Although DISH offers a lot of networks focused on regional college conferences, it doesn’t include regional sports networks like Bally Sports, so that leaves a significant hole if you want to follow your local pro teams.
DISH Network offers some of the top satellite packages you can buy. The service is pricier than some of its competitors, and it’s not perfect, but you’ll find a wide range of entertainment, news, and sports programming here. Plus, with plenty of options to customize your plan, it’s easy to build a great channel lineup with DISH.
DISH offers a variety of kids channels, such as Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. You can also upgrade your plan or add on extras that include even more family-friendly programming.
NFL RedZone is included in the Multi-Sport package add-on, along with many other sports networks. This package is automatically added to your plan at America’s Top 120 Plus and above.
America’s Top 200 offers the most value for a wide variety of viewers. This plan gets you tons of live sports and most of the top channels for family, entertainment, and news programming, and it’s only $5 per month more than the America’s Top 120 Plus plan.
