The Angels need a rebuild. They haven't been good since 2014, and since losing Ohtani in the 2023 MLB season, they haven't been able to produce...anything.
Tonight, the Detroit Tigers (19-12) travel to Angel Stadium in LA to take on the struggling Los Angeles Angels (12-17).
The Angels began the season with an OK start and have thus fallen to abysmal proportions — now 2-8 in their last ten games. The lack of sustained offensive output from the Angels is palpable, with Mike Trout batting .179, which indicates something is not right. He left the game against the Mariners with knee soreness, but also appears to show unfortunate signs of an aging veteran.
The Detroit Tigers are on par, if not better, than they were last year in the 2024 playoffs. The Tigers are favored to win tonight, and with exceptional pitching and hitting, the odds don't look good for the Angels.
Detroit Tigers RHP starter Casey Mize (2.12 ERA) takes the mound opposite the Los Angeles Angels LHP starter Yusei Kikuchi (4.31 ERA).

I think we're all expecting a possible Tigers sweep. Maybe, the Los Angeles Angels win one game? It's a four-game series, so chances are the Angels will get one. But, the Angels are bad...really bad. If Angels' star hitter Mike Trout stays out due to knee soreness, the Angels will lose tonight and this most recent 2025 4-game series against Detroit.
