Max Verstappen has emerged as one of the better drivers on the 2025 grid despite racing in a highly inferior chassis. The Dutchman has kept up with positive results and has surprisingly joined the mix for the driver’s title this year. However, Mercedes’ George Russell is yet another consistent driver who has performed great this season, especially after he picked up two coveted race wins. Now, British racing driver Jamie Chadwick has drawn a parallel between Russell and Verstappen’s racing skills.

George Russell recently achieved a stellar race win at the Singapore GP after starting the race from pole position. The Briton has kept up with consistent results this year despite Mercedes’ rollercoaster of a performance. Russell has helped the German carmaker oust Ferrari from the runner-up spot in the constructors’ championship and build on the lead further.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen has been in a league of his own and achieved some record-breaking race wins. As such, Jamie Chadwick shed light on how Verstappen is always considered a complete driver, barely making mistakes on track. Chadwick insisted that even George Russell came in the same category as the Dutchman and deserved a lot of praise for his racing abilities.

Jamie Chadwick continued that George Russell was among those categories of drivers who possessed the ability to qualify well and race wheel-to-wheel during races. Russell was even capable of not crashing and performing under pressure, no matter the circumstances. Chadwick revealed that there were very few drivers who had such talent at the moment, with the Briton and Max Verstappen being two of them.

I think we talk a lot about how Max is the complete driver, but I do think that George is coming into that category, There’s the category of racing drivers who have got the ability to qualify, race wheel-to-wheel, not crash, perform under pressure, and there are very few of them at the moment.

Jamie Chadwick told Sky Sports F1.

Jamie Chadwick reveals George Russell is able to ‘do it all’

Despite such positive results from George Russell, he is among the very few drivers who have yet to confirm his contractual situation beyond the 2025 season. The Briton recently provided a long-awaited update on his contract, but no concrete solution has come yet. As such, Jamie Chadwick revealed that, regardless of the intense pressure on Russell, he was able to keep a level head on track and perform well.

Jamie Chadwick reiterated that George Russell now performs well under pressure. She acknowledged that Russell was always under pressure, more so because of his contract uncertainity. Chadwick recalled that the Briton was even ill at the Azerbaijan GP weekend but still performed well and finished in P2. The 27-year-old had finally developed into a driver who was able to do it all and extract maximum from any given situation.

What is impressive now is that he can perform under pressure. He is under a lot of pressure. He always is, but we are constantly asking about his contract, what position he is in there. He was also ill last weekend in Baku, and he has to go out and perform on the line. I think now he is able to develop into this driver that can kind of do it all.

Jamie Chadwick noted.

The 2025 season has been difficult for George Russell in multiple aspects, even though he has performed well. The Briton has failed to even contend for his maiden driver’s title despite racing for so many years in the pinnacle of motorsport. As such, Russell will definitely start to lose hope in the German carmaker if they fail to provide him a realistic winning chance in the near future.
