The Air Jordan 3 "Doernbecher" is one of the most special versions of the iconic silhouette. The green slime drip is signature, but the sneaker design is also drenched in meaningful inspiration and heartfelt conceptualization. I don't love the look of this shoe, but I love what it represents.

Both pairs are sold out from Nike and live on the secondary market. The cleanest options are StockX, GOAT and Stadium Goods. Cole's 2010 pair generally lands in the high-$200s to $500-plus range depending on size, while Hugo's 2023 "Juice" pair averages near $600 in early resale.
If condition matters, expect a premium — Cole's original is 15-plus years old and DS pairs are scarce.
Cole Johanson's 2010 fire red original spells C-O-L-E inside a diamond grid pattern, with "Spaghetti" and "Chocolate" behind the heel tabs and "Strength" and "Courage" on the insoles — a kid's biography in leather. It was the only Doernbecher 3 to ever retro.
Hugo "Juice" Covarrubias Molina's 2023 pair swaps that serious red for navy leather, grey elephant print and bright green "slime" drip. Glow-in-the-dark laces, a translucent heel tab reading "Juice," and "It's OK to be different" on the outsole carry his story.
For wear, both are emotionally loaded statement pieces. Cole's is the historic anchor; Hugo's is the more playful, modern read.
As a hold, Cole's pair is the safer long-term play given its place in the Doernbecher Freestyle program's history. Hugo's has early resale strength and room to climb if the silhouette stays in rotation.
