CLEMSON, SC – The bond between a head coach and his quarterback is often crucial, but for Clemson Offensive Coordinator Garrett Riley, his relationship with his starting signal-caller has reached an almost telepathic level. Riley described their connection as "one of the more dynamic relationships in sports."
"Yeah, I mean, we have a great relationship," Riley stated at Media Day. "I think just the trust level and being comfortable when I have to get after them or correct them, critique them, coach them, I mean, all those things, I just think it helps build the trust factor."
The depth of their understanding is remarkable. Riley revealed, "I think he's at a point where he kind of knows what I'm about to say before I even say it, right? I mean, that's kind of where we're at now." This level of intuitive communication is a dream for any offensive coordinator, allowing for seamless adjustments and a shared vision on the field.
Despite this strong connection, Riley emphasized that there's still room for growth, a challenge both he and his quarterback are embracing. "No, I mean, there's still, I think there's still a big area of growth. I really do. And I think he knows that. And again, that's what we're all chasing. That's what he's chasing."
