Winning a national title on the diamond creates an intriguing dynamic for the transfer portal. The LSU Tigers are navigating that aspect of the offseason currently. Being on top of the mountain can help them garner interest from portal targets, but they also missed a major window where commitments happened while they were busy winning in the postseason.

Regardless, the Tigers got plenty of great news from different sources on Tuesday.

Latest transfer portal commitments for LSU

Trent Caraway, 3B, Oregon State

Big-time win here for Jay Johnson's team. Caraway has legitimate top five round of the draft potential at the plate. The tools are there, and there is arguably no better staff to get their hands on the former Beaver than LSU's. I won't be surprised if he immediately slides into a starting role and a middle-of-the-order spot in the batting lineup for the Bayou Bengals.

Caraway had some struggles at the plate this season, but if he finds consistency, this is one of the biggest offensive portal gains for the Tigers. He was a top 50 draft prospect entering this past season.

A right-handed hitter with a ton of bat speed and strength, Caraway had shown a propensity for hard contact in the past but has not found the barrel consistently this spring. He was one of the better pure hitters among prep bats in 2023 and that carried over to Oregon State and the Cape in 2024, but he appeared to have lost his confidence. He’s aggressive at the plate and there has been some swing-and-miss in his game, though he’s also shown a willingness to work counts. He has plenty of raw power, especially to his pull side, though there’s been too much soft contact and very little thump in 2025. -- MLB.com

Zach Yorke, 1B, Grand Canyon

This is another big addition to the lineup for LSU. Yorke was a prolific power hitter last season and holds a form of 6'2 and 295 pounds. He's another impressive lefty bat for the Tigers lineup. Yorke hit 13 home runs last season and hit .339 on the year. There's less swing and miss to his game than you may think.

Chris Stanfield announces return

According to his own social media post, the veteran outfielder is coming back to school. Stanfield was one of LSU's most consistent hitters during conference play, and his defense took steps forward this past season as well.

It's been a productive day for Jay Johnson's squad, and some more portal activity could be around the corner as the Tigers finalize a roster for next season.
