Pitt is dishing out offers to highly-rated recruits and that continued when the Panthers offered a top-100 prospect and the third-ranked running back in the Class of 2026.

Shahn Alston — a 5-foot-10, 205-pound running back from Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio — pulled in an offer from the Panthers on Monday evening.

Alston holds a four-star ranking from On3, 247Sports and ESPN. His highest rating stands at a 90 from 247Sports as they slot him as the 48th-best prospect in the cycle, third-best running back and second-ranked recruit out of Ohio.

With Pitt extending an offer, the Panthers join USC, Auburn, Baylor, West Virginia, Missouri, Wisconsin, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Louisville, Rutgers and others to offer Alston.

Alston held just five offers before the end of his sophomore season. Following a campaign that saw Alston star for Harvey High School, registering 128 carries for 1,041 yards and 17 touchdowns, his recruitment picked up in a hurry and now Pitt is offer No. 20.

While Pitt certainly hopes to get Alston on campus at some point in the near future, it helps that Painesville is a reasonable two-and-a-half-hour drive from Pittsburgh. For now, the highly-recruited running back plans on taking visits to West Virginia, Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin and USC before the summer comes to a close.

Pitt has yet to land a recruit in the Class of 2026, but they are ramping up their efforts in reaching out to recruits. Along with Alston, Pitt also extended an offer to four-star tight end JC Anderson out of Illinois on Monday.
