Real Madrid continued their perfect start in La Liga as they secured a dominant 3-0 away victory over newly promoted side Real Oviedo at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium. Kylian Mbappé scored a brace while substitute Vini Jr. capped off their impressive display in the dying embers of the game.
Xabi Alonso's side largely controlled the game, finishing with 65% possession while managing 26 shots, including 10 on target. Though they had a significant drop in intensity in the second half, it was one of Madrid's best performances under Xabi Alonso.

Real Oviedo had the best first-half chance of the game thanks to a clever long ball on kick-off; nonetheless, Xabi Alonso's side controlled the first stages of the game and reacted quickly through Rodrygo, who saw his deflected effort go just wide of Aarón Escandell's post.
After their early opportunities, Los Blancos failed to create any clear-cut chances inside the first 20 minutes of the game, going against the hosts' well-organised defense.
In the 35th minute, the visitors had their biggest chance as Aarón Escandell remarkably saved Arda Guler's close-range strike. Minutes later, Kylian Mbappé made it 1-0 for Los Merengues and scored his second league goal of the season (37'). After a dominant first half, Xabi Alonso's side went into the break with a well-deserved one-goal lead.
Inside the first 15 minutes of the second half, Real Madrid's intensity dropped significantly, allowing the hosts to be more dominant on the ball while creating several half-chances, pushing Xabi Alonso to operate a double substitution with Vini Jr. and Brahim Diaz coming onto the pitch while Rodrygo and Mastantuono were subbed off.
In the 65th minute, Federico Valverde was denied by Oviedo's Aarón Escandell's incredible save from point-blank range after a thunderous fastbreak started from Madrid's box. In the 82nd minute, Kylian Mbappé bagged his brace as Vini Jr. delivered a great assist to Los Blancos' new number 10 to double their lead.

In the dying embers of the game, Vini Jr. made it 3-0 after a swift break led by Brahim Diaz and capped off a great collective performance by Los Merengues.
Real Madrid will face Mallorca next on August 30 at the Santiago Bernabéu, looking to secure their third consecutive victory of the La Liga season under Xabi Alonso.
