Seattle Seahawks legendary running back Marshawn Lynch and former Washington Huskies cornerback Marcus Peters are joining the Seattle Seawolves of Major League Rugby as owners and investors, per a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The two will be helping to introduce and expand the sport of rugby across the Seattle area. The Seawolves were founded in 2017 and won back-to-back MLR championships in 2018 and 2019. They fell short in the championship game last season (2024) to the New England Free Jacks.

Lynch and Peters have had a close bond off the field dating back to their youth. Peters attended Washington from 2011-2014, and he lived with Lynch at one point during that time. Things were rocky for Peters in those days, as the Huskies dismissed him from the team during his junior year for disciplinary reasons.

However, Peters was still drafted in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He played for nine seasons in the NFL for four different teams, earning three Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections, and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2015. Peters finished his career with 389 total tackles, 33 interceptions (seven returned for touchdowns), 97 passes defensed, 11 forced fumbles, and two sacks.

As for Lynch, this is not his first venture into business outside of the NFL. He also has a share of the NHL's Seattle Kraken, the Oakland Roots SC of the USL, the PFL (Professional Fight League), the Beasts in the Fan Controlled Football League, and the Bay Area Panthers of the Indoor Football League.

After beginning his career with the Buffalo Bills, Lynch was traded to the Seahawks during the 2010 season and played with them through 2015. He returned to the franchise in 2019, appearing in one regular season game and two playoffs games. Lynch rushed for over 1,000 yards for time in Seattle, and earned five Pro Bowl and two All-Pro selections. He is also a Super Bowl champion and a member of the 2010s All-Decade Team.
