The 20 best kits of the 2026 World Cup

Only one team, one nation, can win the 2026 World Cup. However, there’s nothing stopping every team from looking good out there. Well, some of the 48 nations won’t pop out there some of the time, or all of the time. Not every kit for the 2026 World Cup has turned out great in our opinion. Some, though, stand out aesthetically. These are the best uniforms we’ve seen unveiled for the 2026 World Cup. Nations will have home and away uniforms, so it’s possible for a team to appear here twice.

Haiti, playing in its first World Cup, have jerseys that are essentially the same image but in different colors. Both feature a cool image of Haitian freedom fighters raising the country’s flag. While that image does pop more on the away kits, the white is kind of lifeless. The home version features two deep shades of blue that pair well with the deep red trimming.

Australia got creative with its away kits, but sometimes the classics are better. There is nothing remarkable about the Socceroos look if you have seen them in their gold-and-green home kits. Why mess with a good thing, though? We’ve long been fans of the gold jerseys and green shorts the national team wears.

Senegal home

Senegal will be hoping to bounce back from an African Cup of Nations that was…eventful. Fortunately, it will be rocking a killer home kit. While the away jerseys are centered on the green that we are used to seeing Senegal in, those are too busy in a bad way. We can’t argue the home kit isn’t busy. The jerseys are apparently designed after hand-painted buses found in the nation’s capital of Dakar. We’ve seen some complaints about the faded look of the colors, but we think that was smart. It’d be overstimulating otherwise.

Belgium home

Belgium is one of the most “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” teams when it comes to home kits. If you’ve watched soccer for any length of time, you can flip a game on and immediately recognize if it is Belgium out there on the pitch. Even if you aren’t a soccer fan, the deep red paired with hints of yellow and black still screams “Belgium.” Let Kevin de Bruyne play in his final World Cup in something classic and cool.

As much as we like Belgium’s classic home kit, we also are fans of the away kit. Belgium is one of only two nations to get both kits on this list. If you said to us, “Belgium’s away jersey is inspired by a work by Belgian artist Rene Magritte,” we’d be a bit worried. Fortunately, in execution these jerseys are gorgeous. They don’t announce themselves as “Belgium” at all, but they look great, so we can accept it.

Portugal away

Surf’s up! Portugal’s away kit is awash in wave imagery. The top of the jersey is dominated by a triangle of deep, oceanic teal, and at first blush we felt like the lines were too stark. However, seeing it from different angles, and in different lights, we’ve come to think there is enough blend between the two segments of the jersey to work.

Ever since 1998, Croatia has rocked the same look. May it never change. The red-and-white checkers of the jersey are the star of the show. They are as iconic as Luka Modric. This year the jersey does have smaller checkers, but that was a smart move.

Uruguay home

Uruguay has opted for a classy take on its classic look. You know you’re going to see a light blue jersey over black or dark blue shorts. This year’s jersey has a muted tone to the light blue, with subtle lines in the pattern. With the rise of needlessly complicated patterns worked into kit coloring, that feels almost like a relief in some ways. Additionally, the white polo collar paired with that muted blue hue makes it feel like Uruguay is wearing jerseys from 1950 (in a good way).

Norway home

The NHL jerseys that got a lot of hate in the ’90s (often reasonably so) have become retro and vintage, and Norway is tapping into a similar spirit. This is the country’s first World Cup since 1998, when it wore a giant blue cross on a red background like the Norwegian flag. Well, back in the World Cup in 2026, they are running it back. Throw on the Buffalo Sabres’ black-and-red jersey for the NHL playoffs, and then switch to the giant-cross Norway jersey for the World Cup.

The Dutch team is known as the Oranje. They wear orange. If they did anything else, we’d be against it. In fact, this year the Netherlands is leaning even further into the orange of it all. It’s a lot of bright orange, but that’s how we like it.

Apparently the logos on the South Korean kits glow in the dark, which we admittedly can’t get behind. We love the design of the uniforms nevertheless, though. It would appear we’re getting an all-lavender look for the away kits. The jerseys have intricate, but not overly busy, floral patterns that look good from a distance and up close. With designs like this, that isn’t always the case. We just don’t want to see them glow in the dark.

Brazil’s home kit is one of those kits so iconic you kind of have to include it. The design works geometric patterns into the shirt, as is commonplace, but it doesn’t detract from these kits. You have a yellow jersey, you have blue shorts, you have the Selecao in all its glory.

United States home

There are three host nations for the 2026 World Cup. That’s six kits, and only one made the cut. The United States managed to deliver a home kit that is one of the best of the bunch. Of course the American side will be wearing red, white, and blue, with the shorts handling the blue. That’s because the jersey, the real showpiece, features red-and-white stripes designed to look like a waving flag.

Japan home

At first glimpse, we thought the home kit was solid, but unremarkable. Then, we saw it from a different angle and in a different light. At this point we realized the design was more intricate, not merely the usual blue with red and white detailing. There are faint, thin white stripes across the chest of the jerseys, which gives them more life. Plus, for what it’s worth, the Japanese football federation has a killer logo.

Japan, like Belgium, is doing double duty. Japan’s away kit recalls the country’s long history with the game of baseball. The jerseys are white, but pinstriped. There are 12 stripes of the rainbow variety, one for all 11 players on the pitch, and then the red stripe is for the Japanese team as a whole. Some jersey stories are a snooze, but this one is cool.

England away

England’s kits are classics…but the home kit is a little dull. The away kit, which showcases red over an inert white, is decidedly better. England’s away jersey also has lions and stars in the pattern, but they are quite subtle. The only beef is this is one of the jerseys this year with a weird, angular cut on the neckline.

Scotland away

This is, perhaps, the best-looking kit of the 2026 World Cup. They are calling the primary color of the jersey “trace scarlet,” but others have called it a subtle coral. We just know it looks great, and it pairs so well with the purple stripes and trim. If that wasn’t enough — and in our books, it would be — the jerseys are paired with purple shorts and socks. What an incredible look.

Curacao away

We wish Jamaica, with its Bob Marley-inspired away kits, had made the cut. Curacao is making its World Cup debut, though, and it is doing it with a bang. The primary color of the jersey, a “lemon” yellow, is great. On top of that, there are several dashes of color on the jerseys. Not just the cool blue trim, but tropical colors befitting Curacao’s climate.

France away

France’s home kit is nice, but the pattern is a hair too busy for both French kits to make this list. The away kit, though, is a beauty. It’s modeled on the Statue of Liberty, befitting a World Cup in the United States. The whole kit is a light green meant to evoke the verdigris that has enveloped Lady Liberty over the years. Meanwhile, the logos and numbers are in the copper color the statue was when built. A great idea well-executed.

Argentina home

We’ll end with the classic home kit of the defending champions. You know the drill. Blue-and-white stripes up top paired with shorts that don’t necessarily draw the eye. This year, though, Argentina has gotten creative with the stripes. Three different shades of blue live side-by-side to commemorate the three different shades of blue worn by Argentina in the years it has won the World Cup.
