Vince McMahon likely thought he would still be in charge of WWE when he turned 80. I imagine he assumed he would be running things until the day he died. Things haven't panned out that way for the former WWE chairman. A lot of people who remain attached to WWE are still fighting his corner, though, as was demonstrated by the impressive guest list for his 80th birthday party.
McMahon threw a birthday party at New York City's Gotham Hall over the weekend, or more accurately, someone threw a party for him. While there hasn't been a report noting who threw the party, there is a guest list doing the rounds on social media, and there are some very big, perhaps even a little surprising, names on there.
The name that leaps off the page first is John Cena. Cena has admitted he still loves McMahon despite the serious allegations made against him, so the fact that Cena would go to a party like this might not be all that shocking. However, between appearing on WWE TV and doing press tours for Peacemaker season two, I'm struggling to figure out where the man finds the time.
Cena's lucky that he didn't come to blows with R-Truth, who was also in attendance, although the two of them seem to be on the same page again now that Cena has left his wicked ways behind. The Undertaker and Kane were reunited at the party as both made the guest list. Again, unsurprising considering how close they worked with McMahon for so long despite the legal battle McMahon is embroiled in right now.
The only other current WWE Superstar on the list outside of Truth and Cena is Sheamus, whose appearance at the party does surprise me a little. Not as much as the appearance of Shane McMahon, though. The last we heard, Shane and Vince had a big falling out over the booking of the 2022 men's Royal Rumble match. Specifically, the way Shane allegedly inserted himself into the match to make him look good against some of WWE's top stars.
While the leaked list might not be exhaustive, some of the big names that aren't on there are even more notable than the ones that are. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon's names, for example, are nowhere to be seen. Surprising when Shane was in attendance, and so was Bruce Prichard, who works with The Game in WWE creative daily.
