'Want to play mixed doubles with her,' Carlos Alcaraz reveals his partnership proposal to Emma Raducanu as the British WTA icon is yet to make a decision

Although she got knocked out of the tournament early, Emma Raducanu’s performance showed that she has indeed worked on herself and that she will soon return to top form again. 

In a recent press conference, ATP World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz praised the Brit’s performance after her comeback and said that it was a pleasure to watch her play.

The 20-year-old also revealed that he has offered Raducanu to play mixed doubles together, and the 2021 US Open champion said that she is thinking about it. 

It's so great to see her back on court after all her surgeries. Tennis needs her, she's a pleasure to watch. I still want to play mixed doubles with her, she told me she's thinking about it. Alcaraz said. 

The 21-year-old delivered a stunning performance in the first-round match at the 2024 Australian Open. She defeated Shelby Rogers 6-3, 6-2 in straight sets to advance to the second round with ease.

Coincidentally, Raducanu had also defeated Shelby Rogers in the Round of 16 of the 2021 US Open, in which she proceeded to defeat Leylah Fernandez in the final to win her first-ever Grand Slam. 

Emma Raducanu is set to face Wang Yafan in the second round at Australian Open 

The Brit dropped a great performance in the first round against Shelby Rogers. She will now face Wang Yafan, who has a WTA ranking of World No. 94. The two players have not played a match against each other yet, and this will be their first encounter. 

Carlos Alcaraz, on the other hand, defeated Richard Gasquet in three sets in his first round. He will now face Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego in the second round. The Spaniard is the second seed in the tournament and also one of the favorites to lift the trophy after Novak Djokovic. 

With that being said, it will be interesting to see whether Emma Raducanu accepts Carlos Alcaraz’s offer to play mixed doubles as a team. The fans will definitely enjoy watching the two dynamic players play together.
