The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has taken a more aggressive recruiting approach moving forward which could pay off with top recruits.

The 2026 recruiting cycle is nearly complete for the Badgers and a shift in focus has occurred with the 2027 and 2028 cycles beginning to heat up. Both cycles are considered early to be full of talent, particularly in the Midwest where Wisconsin looks to do the most damage.

Tucked away at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, a familiar school for the Wisconsin Badgers staff, sits one such 2028 talent who is already drawing interest from big programs. 2028 edge rusher London Owens, a 6-foot-2-inch talent, is a tenacious defender with early signs of a great technical feel for the game. The defender has already heard from multiple programs and signs of potentially game-changing offers are looming for Owens.

Owens is a versatile and physical defender who often finds himself in the middle of the action regardless of where the play ends. The edge rusher impressed last season with his speed off the line and ability to disrupt plays in the backfield. Weighing in at roughly 220-pounds, Owens packs a punch in his hits despite not fully filling out his frame yet.

Wisconsin Badgers Displaying Early Interest in 2028 Edge Rusher London Owens

The Badgers staff learned in previous classes that different levels of talent will come off of the board at different times, and being early to the party is crucial. While the Wisconsin Badgers have offered many players across the 2027 and 2028 classes, the ones receiving the most attention this early are the recruits that the staff fears will make a decision the quickest.

For Owens, a decision on his collegiate future seems like something that is still months out from becoming a little clearer, but Wisconsin is not going to take any chances. Recently, the staff began to display interest in Owens who has been in contact with multiple Big Ten Conference programs. Illinois, Indiana, and Purdue have all been involved with the edge rusher early and aim to lock-down the recruit before possible national attention hits.

The upcoming season for Owens will be a telling one as the recruit has all the tools and size to make a serious impact on the field. Another successful campaign for Owens will also mean bigger, better offers should flood the inbox for the recruit. Getting in touch and establishing a connection with Owens is crucial at this junction for the Wisconsin Badgers staff before the recruit becomes too big to reach.
