When you think of young Alabama running backs, the first name that comes to the mind of a lot of people is EJ Crowell, but he is not the only true freshman running back participating in spring practice with the Tide. Trae’shawn Brown also signed with Alabama and enrolled as an early enrollee.

Brown is getting his feet wet this spring in his first practices as an Alabama running back. The 5-foot-10, 201-pound running back looks to be tapping into what made him an intriguing get for the Tide this spring. The Texas product is considered to be an explosive option out of the backfield.

When Daniel Hill was asked if there were any explosive run plays in the Tide’s first spring scrimmage, he immediately pointed to Brown with his answer.

“One I can remember, probably Trae’shawn,” Hill said. “He broke off a good run.”

Alabama showed a clip of the run in its highlights from the scrimmage. The run can be seen at the 26-second mark in the highlight video.

Hill has noticed Brown’s focus on trying to get better this spring.

“Trae’shawn is a young guy, just coming in, knowing what he’s supposed to do, doing the little things,” Hill said. “Just like EJ, he’s always trying to find little things to get better for himself and that’s good, seeing a young guy wanting to do better.”

The future of the Alabama running back room continues to look bright with Brown and Crowell as centerpieces.
