The 2025 Barracuda Championship tees off from July 17 to 20 at the Tahoe Mountain Club in Truckee, California. Known for its unique modified Stableford scoring system, this opposite-field event on the PGA Tour awards aggressive play and often crowns first-time winners. Meanwhile, the Open Championship also gets underway on the same dates at Royal Portrush, drawing some players away from the Barracuda field due to qualification overlap.

This year, the PGA Tour has confirmed a series of withdrawals and replacements ahead of the event. Chris Gotterup and Matti Schmid were both scheduled to play at Tahoe but withdrew Sunday night after earning spots in the Open Championship field.

Gotterup earned his place by winning the Scottish Open, saying per Golfweek , “I’m excited to go up to Portrush… but I’m happy I’m not flying from here to California, that’s for sure.” With them out, James Hahn and Matt NeSmith were named as replacements.

The changes began Friday with Adam Hadwin being added. On Saturday, Jake Knapp withdrew and Trace Crowe stepped in. David Ford also pulled out, replaced by Ben Martin. Sunday saw another round of updates: Henrik Norlander (WD) was replaced by Zac Blair, while Trace Crowe (WD again) made way for Austin Cook.

Beyond withdrawals, the Monday open qualifier at Schaffer’s Mill Golf Club finalized four new additions: Chaz Aurilia, Chris Korte, David Longmire, and RJ Manke earned their spots in the 156-player field. Jonathan Byrd and Scott Piercy also got in, with Piercy qualifying on his own number.

Despite many players heading overseas for the Open, defending champion Nick Dunlap is returning to Tahoe, aiming for back-to-back wins after a T11 finish at the John Deere Classic. With a $4 million purse and 300 FedEx Cup points up for grabs, the reshuffled field is set for another unpredictable showdown.
