Throughout 2025, talks about a merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour have been frequent and unfruitful. At several points, talks have cropped up and quickly deflated after reaching a pressure point. This has led to more divides in the sport, and at one point, Scottie Scheffler said this.
With the team concept fully in play, LIV Golf’s offseason closely resembles that of professional team sports. With the free agency period approaching for the 13 LIV teams, four have already announced they’re returning as-is for 2025, and one former PGA Tour winner has been shown the door.
Eleven LIV Golf participants, including Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau, filed a lawsuit against the PGA Tour last week in an effort to still participate in the FedEx Cup playoffs.
