Thanks to the roster expansion, there was a flurry of roster transactions on September 1. Among them were IL placements, as Jonathan India and Edward Cabrera were both placed on the injured list.

Cabrera dealing with elbow sprain

The Marlins placed pitcher Edward Cabrera on the 10-day IL with a right elbow strain. The move is retroactive to August 31.

Manager Clayton McCullough stated that Cabrera felt tightness, which prompted the IL stint and additional tests. Cabrera did not have an IL stint after dealing with elbow discomfort just before the All-Star break.

It’s the second IL stint of 2025 for Cabrera. He started the year there thanks to a blister.

India on IL

Kansas City placed Jonathan India on the 10-day IL with a left wrist sprain. It’s retroactive to August 30.

It’s the first time India has been on the injured list since 2023.

Arenado could start rehab soon

The Cardinals could get Nolan Arenado back before the end of this season.

Arenado will get checked out by team doctors on September 4 and, shortly thereafter, go through a pre-game routine. He could progress to a rehab assignment afterwards.

The veteran infielder has been out since the end of July thanks to a shoulder strain.

Adam suffers ruptured tendon

Padres reliever Jason Adam was carted off the field after reacting to a ball hit towards him by Gunnar Henderson.

He was diagnosed with a ruptured quad tendon.
