New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge and manager Aaron Boone were at a crossroads on Tuesday. After Boone made some comments regarding the injury concerns, Judge would hit back at him and claimed he was unsure why Boone said any of that.

Judge suffered a flexor strain in his right arm on July 22 in Toronto while playing against the Toronto Blue Jays. He was later put on the 10-day injured list. Since coming from the IL, the reigning American League MVP has played as the Designated Hitter (DH) with Giancarlo Stanton taking the right field.

Before the game on Tuesday, Boone spoke about Judge’s injury on WFAN Sports Radio. During this, the Yankees manager expressed that they might not see their captain throwing the same way he usually does, at any time this year.

I don’t think we’re going to see him back to throwing like he normally does at any point this year, but that’s OK, too. We’ve got to feel like he can go out there and be able to protect himself and represent himself.

This was something that seemingly did not sit well with Aaron Judge. The outfielder, who continued his throwing program at George M. Steinbrenner Field, would hit back at this comments from his manager.

I don’t know why he said that. He hasn’t seen me throw for the past two weeks. I’m pretty confident I’ll get back to it.

The 33-year-old Yankees star went on to hit his 40th home run of the season in a 13-3 win on Tuesday. His homer was one of the 9 home runs the Yankees hit against the Tampa Bay Rays, tying a franchise record. It was also the 2nd time the Yankees had hit 9 home runs in one game, with the first one being in a 20-9 win over the Milwaukee Brewers at the start of the season.

Aaron Boone clarified his comments regarding Aaron Judge

Prior to the game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone claimed that Aaron Judge might not be seen throwing like he usually does. After catching some heat from the fans, the 52-year-old clarified his comments.

While speaking with the reporters before the game, Boone backtracked to his comments and expressed that he meant that they might not see him (Judge) making the plays that they are used to.

I think I was trying to say, initially, I don’t expect him coming out and making Aaron Judge throws that we’ve become accustomed to seeing.

Even Judge would make some comments later on. The 7-time MLB All-Star expressed that he was not “stupid” and would take things slowly.

I’m not stupid. I’m going to be cautious with it and make sure we don’t make it worse. You’ve got the rest of August and September and October. I’ve got to be out there for all those games. Got to be smart with it.

Aaron Judge said as per The Athletic

This win was the Yankees’ 4th successive win. Following a recent skid, the Bronx Bombers have bounced back to form. They have now won 6 of their last 7 games and improved their record to 68-57.

They also sit top of the American League Wild Card standings following the losses of the Boston Red Sox and the Seattle Mariners. Following another game against the Rays on Wednesday, the Yankees will turn their focus towards the Red Sox. The division rivals will engage in a 4-game series at Yankee Stadium from Thursday.
