According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, former Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols is reportedly the Angels owner Arte Moreno’s top choice to fill the available manager position. After another disappointing season under manager Ron Washington, the Angels are looking for new leadership as they try to salvage what is left of future Hall of Famer Mike Trout’s career.

As a player, Pujols is one of the best hitters in MLB history. An 11-time all-star, 3-time MVP, and 1 of only 4 players to ever hit more than 700 home runs, Pujols brings an incredible resumé to an organization desperately in need of a spark. What the Angels truly need is a leader who can help establish a winning culture in Anaheim. Pujols, a 2 time World Series champion, knows exactly what a team needs to win games in the regular season and make a deep run in October.

Despite never living up to his gargantuan 10-year $254 million contract, Pujols still gave the Angels organization 10 solid years as a player and was teammates with Angels’ franchise outfielder Mike Trout for nearly his entire tenure with the team. Even though Pujols has no managerial experience, his familiarity with Trout and his hall of fame resumé would bring him instant credibility inside the Angels clubhouse.
