Astros hit unfortunate low not seen since 2013

The Houston Astros are enduring a brutal stretch, with their losing streak now at eight games. Their record continues to slide as road struggles shape the American League landscape.

The Astros fell 6–2 to the Seattle Mariners on Monday, extending their skid to eight straight losses. The defeat capped a disastrous 1–9 road trip and marked the franchise’s longest losing streak since 2013. The trip included consecutive series sweeps by the Colorado Rockies and Mariners, underscoring the team’s recent struggles.

The skid has also exposed inconsistencies on both sides of the ball, as defensive lapses and untimely hitting have compounded the team’s struggles and prevented Houston from regaining control in key moments throughout games.

Houston’s pitching staff could not contain Seattle’s lineup. Starter Mike Burrows allowed six runs on 11 hits over six innings and took the loss. In contrast, Mariners starter George Kirby controlled the game, throwing 7.2 innings while limiting the Astros to just two runs.
