Atlanta Braves Powered By Great Pitching Performance In 4-1 Win

The Atlanta Braves had a day to remember on the mound this afternoon at home against the Colorado Rockies. Atlanta amassed a whopping 19 strikeouts in today’s 4-1 win. That is the most strikeouts Atlanta has had in a 9-inning game in at least the last 125 seasons.

Starting Pitcher Spencer Strider got the team off to a great start. He tossed six scoreless innings and punched out 13. He tied franchise legend John Smoltz for the most games in franchise history with 13+ strikeouts(5). Will Saturday’s performance help the Atlanta Braves get on track?

It has been a disappointing season for the Atlanta Braves. They got off to a miserable start and have struggled to find consistency ever since. At 31-38, they are in third place in the National League East. Atlanta’s offense has been middling. They are 18th in batting average, 13th in home runs, and 21st in runs scored. Former NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. has been rounding into form since returning from a torn ACL.

Atlanta’s pitching staff has been the stronger part of their ballclub in 2025. They are 11th in ERA, 12th in WHIP, and seventh in strikeouts. Reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale is pitching well again. He is fourth in the league in strikeouts.

The Atlanta Braves return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon aiming for their fourth straight win. They are looking to take all three games against the Colorado Rockies. Atlanta has a talented roster but has not played like it this season. They must get going sooner rather than later.
