The Los Angeles Dodgers addressed their bullpen at the trade deadline by reuniting with Brock Stewart in a deal that sent James Outman to the Minnesota Twins.

Stewart was expected to be a key addition for the Dodgers but has made just four appearances thus far due to right shoulder inflammation.

Upon being placed on the 15-day injured list earlier this month, Stewart received a cortisone shot and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection to treat his shoulder.

The 33-year-old started playing catch last week but continued to feel discomfort and received another injection.

“I’m not sure when he’s going to start his throwing program, but we’re still hopeful that at some point time in September, we’ll get him back, but no real update,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

“He was playing catch, and then it just didn’t respond the right way,” Roberts explained of Stewart needing additional injections.

That caused a brief delay before Stewart could resume playing catch as he looks to move past the setback.

Stewart has dealt with injury concerns throughout his career so the Dodgers will exercise caution as he works his way back to the mound.

Stewart allowed two runs in just 3.2 innings pitched for L.A. before landing on the IL.

When will Brock Stewart return?

Even with his latest setback, the Dodgers remain hopeful that Stewart can return before the regular season concludes.

While Stewart’s absence has been felt, the team did just welcome back Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates from the injured list. Michael Kopech and Roki Sasaki will also rejoin the team when rosters expand in September.
